Pasco Arts Council recognizes rising artists with Kids ‘n Art 2012

Pasco County, Florida -- Pasco County art instructors from public, charter, private and home-schooled networks were invited to select up to six pieces of art from their currently enrolled students in elementary or middle school for this year's Kids 'n Art exhibit.

Each child could enter one piece in any medium. The show will be judged by Barbara Dent, high school art instructor from Bishop McLaughlin and will be on exhibit from May 12 through the end of May.

The public is invited to view the exhibit, with free admission, at the PAC art center located at 5744 Moog Rd., Holiday (adjacent to Centennial Park Library) during regular operating hours: Tuesday through Thursdays from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Friday and Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.; closed holidays.

The awards ceremony for Kids ‘n Art will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 12.  In lieu of cash awards, art-themed prizes will be awarded to Best of Show and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place of different mediums.  The Honorable Henry Wilson, commissioner of Pasco County will be the presenter of the awards.

“Having observed the younger children for over six years at Pasco Arts Council, I know that even the younger ones have some serious talent going on. It seemed like the high school youth have more opportunities, so we wanted to recognize the younger artists," said acting director, Laura Knox. "This year we have approximately twenty art teachers entering their students. If this is well received, we’re hopeful to make this an annual, growing event.”

Pasco Arts Council is also announcing that the curriculum for their Summer Art Adventures for kids is now available; registrations can be accepted by phone or in person.
