19-year-old arrested for having sex with runaway girl

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- An employee at Hard Rock Cafe was arrested Thursday for having sex with a 14-year-old girl he let stay at his home for three weeks.

Pasco Sheriff's deputies say 19-year-old Walter Santos-Reyes had sex with a girl a minimum of five times while she stayed at his home after she ran away from home.

HART: Ridership rates in April 2013 "record breaking"

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) says April 2013 now holds the record for the fourth highest ridership rate in all of HART's history! 

According to a release sent Thursday, April's bus ridership of 1,257,728 is a 6 percent increase from the 1,182,531 recorded riders in April 2012.

April 1st may have set the tone for the month's success, as HART reps say it saw the greatest daily ridership of the month with nearly 55,000 riders.

"Heart of a Champion" scholarship to help 66 Hillsborough seniors

Hillsborough County, Florida-- An upcoming, exciting event will honor some of Hillsborough County's high school senior athletes, and award them with scholarships for displaying hard work, determination and true spirit.

The "Heart of a Champion" scholarship will go to one male, and one female student athlete from 33 Hillsborough County schools who have demonstrated what “heart” is all about, event organizers explained Wednesday.

Pasco County, Florida -- Pasco County Animal Services will be hosting free adoptions for all Mothers from May 8th through May 18th.  Adoptable dogs and cats will be FREE to moms in celebration of Mother’s Day. There will be a $10 fee for a Pasco County dog license.

FDOT to present proposals for widening of SR 54 in Wesley Chapel

Wesley Chapel, Florida-- Commuters who often use SR 54 near Wesley Chapel are invited to The Florida Department of Transportation's presentation on thursday, during which District 7 will display recent development and design proposals for the widening of SR 54 from Curley Road to Morris Bridge Road.

FDOT officials say there will be no formal presentation, so attendees are welcome to arrive anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, to look over the proposals.
