TAMPA BAY, Florida - Months after a 10 News investigation called attention to often-ignored safety recommendations on soccer fields, tens of thousands of Tampa Bay-area kids are now safer.

Radio host Sileo fired over racist comment

UPDATE: 10 News has learned that Dan Sileo has been fired after making a racially-charged comment on morning radio.

WDAE Program Manager Steve Versnick confirmed the firing, saying, "Dan Sileo is no longer with the station. We wish him well."

Former Hillsborough commissioner sentenced to prison

TAMPA, Fla. - Former Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin White did not say a word while rushing to a waiting car outside Federal court Monday. He'd just been sentenced to three years in prison.

He pushed two media photographers out of his way. His supporters yelled, "Leave him alone!"

But inside the courtroom White was more contrite. He told the judge, "I accept full responsibility for all of my actions."

TAMPA, Fla. --  A judge said he was going to set an example in former Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin White.

He sentened White to three years in prison and three years probation for a bribery scheme where he accepted $5,000.

White was convicted last November of conspiracy, bribery, wire fraud, and lying to the FBI.

Operation Clean Streets nets 91 arrests

Pasco County, Florida -- Last week, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrested 91 people during a warrants sweep throughout the county. In all, officers served 90 misdemeanor warrants, 45 felony warrants, 3 juvenile pickup orders and 6 child support warrants.

The PSO Vice Tactical Narcotics Team also made 27 additional drug-related arrests separate from the warrants sweep. The sweep was a two-day operation that started on March 7.

Tampa, Fla. -- The Hillsborough River will turn green on St. Patrick's Day as Mayor Bob Buckhorn will host the inaugural Mayor's River O'Green Fest.

Besides turning the river green, the city will celebrate with food trucks, entertainment, and activities.

The Mayor says "St. Patrick's Day is an opportunity to celebrate our Irish heritage because everyone knows Ponce de Leon was really Ponce O'Leon, an Irishman."
